Hopkins Trailer Wiring Adapter Installation - 2020 Toyota Corolla- Video
Hey everyone, Shane here with etrailer.com. Today I have a 2020 Toyota Corolla, and I'm gonna walk you through how to install the Hopkins 4-Pole to 5-Pole adaptor plug. What this is designed to do, is if you have a 4-pole plug on your vehicle, but your trailer has a 5-pole, this allows you to hook into your 4-pole plug on your vehicle, to give you that 5-pole end, if your trailer has a reverse light circuit. The blue wire coming off is gonna have a bullet connector on it, it's gonna come with the extension to connect to our reverse light circuit in the vehicle. This way your trailer, having that reverse light circuit, will allow anybody behind you, if you're backing up, to see what you're doing. What makes this nice is if we're not pulling a trailer with a 5-pole, we can take this adapter, we can throw it in our glove box, or with our other wiring. more

Hopkins 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole Adapter Installation - 2019 Toyota Highlander- Video
Connor: Hey everybody, how's it going Connor today at etrailer.com. We're going to be taking a look at the Hopkins 4 and 7-Pole Trailer Connector Adapter here for our 2019 Toyota Highlander. Now, granted, this may vary a little bit, depending on what trailer connector mounting bracket we're using, but more often than not, it's going to be secured to the hitch receiver tube here, which is going to give us a nice accessible location here as well as going to be sturdy so we don't have to worry about it shifting around or plugging in our trailer connectors. So a seven-pole trailer connector is going to be a step up from the standard four-way trailer connector, and some reasons why you might need a seven-way trailer connector, number one, the most common is if you have electric brakes on your trailer, you are going to be required to run a seven-way trailer connector.And another common occurrence we see of the seven-way trailer connectors being used is if the trailer has a battery and you need to run a battery charge line circuit. So if you have a larger trailer with electric brakes or an onboard battery, chances are it's going to use a seven-way trailer connector, so we're going to need one of these for the vehicle.So this trailer connector here is sort of unique in that it offers pretty much plug and play installation because it's going to plug into an existing four-way trailer connector we have on the vehicle. Hopkins Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole Installation - 2017 Toyota Highlander- Video
Hi there Highlander owners, today in your 2017 Toyota Highlander, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Hopkins seven way and four pole to four pole adapter cable. This way, you will have both a seven pole connector and a four pole connector. So you can hook up to whatever type of trailer, as long as your hitch and vehicle can pull it. Now, this does not provide your charge line brake or reverse circuit, unless you hook all those up. You just plug in the four poles. You're only going to get your necessary lighting, which includes your left turn, right turn, tail lamps and brake lamps. more

Now this connector is going to convert your standard 4-pole connector from your wiring harness and give you a seven way option for a connector as well as not sacrificing that 4-pole functionality and have both connectors. So, you're going to be able to use it for a wide variety of applications.Now, a couple of things I really like about this seven pole connector is that one, we're going to have a lamp tester on the side, letting us test out to make sure that all of our lights are working correctly. Trailer Wiring Harness Adapter Installation - 2013 Toyota Tundra- Video
Today on our 2013 Toyota Tundra, we're going to review and install the Hopkins Adapter for 4-pole to 7- and 4-pole Trailer Connector, part number 37185. Here's what our trailer adapter is going to look like once installed. We took the vehicle from a standard 4-flat trailer connector and now have a 4-flat trailer connector along with the 7-blade style trailer connection point. Not all of our blades are hooked up, specifically the 12-volt battery source or the brake controller. However, the remaining 5 leads are hooked and are ready for use. Now, having both the 4-flat and the 7-blade connector, we can expand on our hook up options, and we can hook up to just about any trailering connection out there. Our customers like how well-built it is and easy to install. Now, let's go ahead and show you how to install it. To begin our install, we're going to remove the manufacturer's 4-flat trailer connector and bracket. more

Tow Ready 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter Installation - 2015 Toyota Highlander- Video
Today in our 2015 Toyota Highlander we're going to be showing you how to install the Tow Ready 4 Pole to 5 Pole Trailer Wiring Adapter, Part Number is 20036. Now our installation's going to begin by attaching our blue wire that's going to come with the kit to the reverse light wire, so that the wire that becomes hot or turns on are reverse lights. Now they're in the door in the hatch of the Highlander here, so we're going to go in to one of the wire looms located inside. We're going to go to the one that's on the left side here, and we'll just pull the boot up of the bracket that's holding it down. What we're going to do is just slide that loom up, get it out of the way now where we can get into our bunch of wires here. The wire that we're looking for is going to be a red wire. The good news is that there's only 5 of them. We only have to test 5 wires to figure out which one's going to be which, it should be this thicker one here but we'll see in a minute. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Adapter Installation - 2007 Toyota Tundra- Video
Today on this 2007 Toyota Tundra Double Cab, we're going to install part number 37185. This is the Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole and 4 Pole from Hopkins. For this part, we'll upgrade our factory 4 pole or pre-existing 4 pole into a 7-pole connector with another 4-pole connector on the outside for our trailer. The first step is to go ahead and install our mounting bracket for a 7 pole that comes with the kit. Now in our case, our hitch has a attachment point on it already, so a pretty easy install for this point. Put our bracket in place, and we'll install the hardware that comes with it. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2012 Toyota Prius c- Video
Today on our 2012 Toyota Prius C, we'll be installing the Curt Upgraded Circuit Protected Taillight with Converter Hardware Kit with 4 Pole End, part number 56146KIT. To begin with we'll need to go ahead and raise the rear hatch of the vehicle. Now we've already gone ahead and cleaned out the stuff that would be over the spare tire to allow us to remove any of the interior threshold, panels as well as the two side panels. We'll start out by removing the center threshold, to do this we'll use a trim panel removable tool and slide it under and pop it up removing the fasteners. Next we'll need to remove three 10mm bolts from each side. We're going to go ahead and start on the driver's side. With these three screws removed, we can pull the interior panel out. Now we will not be able to completely remove this panel. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 2006 Toyota Solara- Video
Today on our 2006, Toyota Solara convertible, we'll be installing the current upgraded circuit protected tail light with converter hard wire kit, with the 4 Pole End, Part number 56146K-I-T. To begin with, we need to go ahead and raise the rear trunk hatch. We'll then need to go ahead and clean out anything that is inside the trunk, including any carpet covers, as well as the spare tire cover. As you will also see here on the left hand side, there's a small plastic dish area that is used for storage. This will also need to be removed. We'll go ahead and pull the center threshold area up. To do this you can just work your hand from the inside of the trunk and pull out a little bit, and then the whole center threshold will gently pull up. With the center threshold out, now we can go ahead and remove the carpet that's on each side of the interior of the trunk. There's first a small hook that has a screw in it. You'll need an 8 millimeter socket to remove this screw. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Adapter Installation - 2012 Toyota Highlander- Video
Today on our 2012 Toyota Highlander, we'll be installing the Hopkins Adapter 4-Pole to 7 and 4-Pole Plug, part number 37185. To do this, we'll first need to attach the bracket with the hardware provided. Now, we can take the 7-pole bracket and attach it to the hitch bracket using a screw and nut combination. Note: Not all hitches will have the pre-attached bracket to attach the mounting bracket to. Now, we'll go ahead and identify our wires. We'll be using the brown, yellow and green plug wire and the white ground wire. more

Trailer Wiring Harness Adapter Installation - 2010 Toyota Tundra- Video
Today on this 2010 Toyota Tundra pickup, we are going to install part number 37185. Also, we are going to use an install bracket, part number 118136 from Tow Ready. In this case what we are going to do is we have our factory 4-pole lose from the vehicle. Our 7 and 4-pole down to our 4-pole adapter is going to go on the end of this. Now we will take a few minutes to do some test fitting here because it is kind of close between the hitch and the bumper. So, we use our bracket. We can mount it this way or we can mount it this way. And we can mount it just like this. It does stick out kinda far. So what we can do is we can just take this bracket and flip it around. And if we are installing it backwards, it actually recesses a little bit. It sits a little tighter against the hitch and it is not the only thing that is sticking out further than the hitch itself. 1:00 more
